The Flathead County Deputy and one of the investigators on the case in 1982, Jim Dupont would eventually become the Flathead County Sheriff. But despite his advancement over the next 24 years, I was to remain his nemesis who would haunt him right up to his dying days.
"Hollywood', as he was known to his deputies and the Flathead County guards, was a colorful man who cherished the lime-light of glamor and flamboyancy. He was never short on words and seemed to revel more in opinions rather then facts and evidence, as his interview with Dateline NBC attested. Unfortunately, because of his passing, no one will ever know if the "Buford T. Justice" of Flathead County was the worst investigator Kalispell ever had, or just a compulsive liar.
